For info,
the -server JVM, in a pure EJB environment, take approx. 30% longer than the client VM,
tested with sun JVM under Win32 and Linux.

difference in using the -server option on the java command vs. not using it?

The -server version of the JVM is much faster (however it takes a little longer
to load and uses more memory) than the -client version (-client version is the
default JVM you get if you don't specify -server).
