I know this is the Java list, but perhaps you could reduce the stress level
by using the MMAIL utility from the Easy400 web site (www-922.ibm.com) - It
is based in RPG not Java and may even perform better.

That would get you up and running quickly and you can switch to JavaMail
later if you wish.
