Rubbish.

We don't run a lot of Java _on_ the iSeries, but have multi-million
dollar e-commerce sites that run on Linux boxen and talk to the iSeries
constantly.  We use JDBC, data queues, file member manipulation, FTP,
and more from code running on the Linux servers and have an RMI server
running on the iSeries.

We also have Java GUI programs on PCs in our warehouse that are used to
print millions of barcode labels a year for factories overseas.  Again,
the data are fetched from an iSeries (the operator requests a purchase
order number from a selector and all the labels and a manifest are
magically printed).

P.S. A few years ago, I had an interview in a shop where they did all
their batch jobs using Java (i.e. instead of CL).  Now _that_ would have
been interesting... :)
