That's what we do, we wrap that call to the CL program in an object that
extends ConnectionListener, call addConnectionListener on the AS400 object.
And the CL is called every time an AS400 object connects to the remote
command server. That way we can open and close the connection as and when we
please, when the connection object reconnects the library list is changed
automatically.

Something along the lines of:

class as400ConnectionEvent implements ConnectionListener
{

public void connected(ConnectionEvent e)
{

If(e.getService() = AS400.Command)
{
AS400 a = (AS400) e.getSource();
//Create a command call object etc from here to
change the library list
}
}
public void disconnected(ConnectionEvent e)
{


}


}


}
