HttpSessionListener.sessionDestroyed() not getting called -- JAVA400-L

We have a web-enabled version of an application client, one that runs through Websphere Application Server. We are, at least in theory, using HttpSessionListener.sessionDestroyed() to recognize when the user has abandoned a session, and close it out.

Except that sessionDestroyed() isn't getting called, even though we're well beyond what we understand to be the timeout. We know that sessionCreated() is getting called, but no sessionDestroyed().

Any suggestions on what to look for?

(And I'm trying to search the midrange.com archives, but I can't get them to come up.)
