I should be happy I missed the encouragement. I've never put anything in /QIBM/UserData/Java400/ext. As I understand the java extension spec, that's where you put stuff that is meant to be an extension to the language that you don't want checked by the security environment. It should only be stuff you're very, very sure doesn't mess with your machine any way you don't want it to.

I am using QCMDEXEC to run the ADDENVVAR command. I am now looking at using the systemDefault.properties file from the calling USRPRF home directory. I think that IBM made a huge mistake encouraging people to put jar files into /QIBM/UserData/Java400/ext. The changes to the environment brought on by switching to the J9 AIX JVM are coming back to bite IBM in the but.

Are you setting classpath with the CHGENVVAR/ADDENVVAR commands? I've had better luck using export in QSH scripts to set them. I think you could also use the c function putenv() from your RPG.

Has anyone gotten AXIS 1.4 to work on the J9 JVM on the iSeries at V5R4M0? If so how?
