not sure if this helps, but i have a context.xml file in my META-INF folder which contains the following sytax:

<Resource auth="Container" driverClassName="com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver" maxActive="8" maxIdle="4" name="jdbc/xxx" password="xxx" type="javax.sql.DataSource" url="jdbc:as400:IBMISERIES;naming=system;libraries=qs36f,libl1;prompt=false;trace=false;date format=usa;errors=full;transaction isolation=none;autocommit=off;" username="cwfer"/>
