asdbget CVS trouble

Other than ignorance on my part, is there a problem related to getting
asdbget from CVS?  I got tn5250, gnome-5250, dds-tools today, but I get
the following:

$ cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.cleveland.lug.net:/tn5250 checkout
asdbget

cvs checkout: in directory asdbget:
cvs checkout: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or
directory
cvs server: Updating asdbget
cvs server: failed to create lock directory in repository
`/tn5250/asdbget': Permission denied
cvs server: failed to obtain dir lock in repository `/tn5250/asdbget'
cvs [server aborted]: read lock failed - giving up
