FYI...I got autogen.sh to work by changing configure.in from:

84: dnl Checks for header files.
85:

to

84: dnl Checks for header files.
85: AC_CONFIG_HEADER

but now I get:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.      -g -O2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include
-I/usr/include -DNEED_GNOMESUPPORT_H -I/usr/lib/gnome-libs/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/local/include -c gtk-5250.c

gtk-5250.c:116: `VERSION' undeclared (first use in this function)
