Just in case I've confused people, I don't know where I came up with version 0.17.1 (guess I saw somebody else use that number?). I downloaded my code from CVS and it says 0.16.0pre1 Also, in my case I could press F12 and get back to query and exit out. It was pressing page down to view the next screen where I actually had the crash. The message line at the bottom of the screen showed the error from the AS/400 (and I could press F1 on that and see the error message detail.)
