I suspect you're right that it is trying to look up an error message or something. If you post the entire strace output, I could probably figure out more. One thing, though, you will either need to modify the xt5250 shell script and add strace to the line(s) that spawn tn5250, or add one of the strace options to follow forks (I think it's -ff). > > Would other messages help?
