This'll be a very tricky problem to solve.  You need to look at how the 
keyboard is mapping keystrokes...

Personally, I think it would be a lot better to use SSH to establish a 
tunnel, and connect with the Windows version of TN5250 over that tunnel. 
    That way, TN5250 understands your keyboard.

Having said that.. I don't quite understand why your Linux box solves 
the problem with connections dropping.  So perhaps I'm leading you in a 
circle?
