This'll be a very tricky problem to solve. You need to look at how the keyboard is mapping keystrokes...

Personally, I think it would be a lot better to use SSH to establish a tunnel, and connect with the Windows version of TN5250 over that tunnel. That way, TN5250 understands your keyboard.

Having said that.. I don't quite understand why your Linux box solves the problem with connections dropping. So perhaps I'm leading you in a circle?

I am testing a solution for my work problem we have a vpn solution for our
remote workers, but during the busy time for us in the early evening client
access times out and drops the connection a lot so I had the idea to connect
to a linux server wth ssh and run a tn5250 session. This solution works
great with a couple of caveats - the destructive backspace doesn't work
through the ssh client, and I can't figure out how to get back to a command
prompt. I am using the current CVS version of tn5250, and putty for the
client. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
