Keith,

Green screen MAPICS strengths are MRP
(circa 1980), product data management and production
control and costing. Customer order management is ok
if you fit its profile but it is not a distribution
oriented system in any sense of the word. In particular
serial number support, commissions, and flexible
invoicing are absent. Financials are either weak
(GL/AR/AP) or unwieldy (IFM) with a strength being
multi-currency. Inventory management has some major
limitations but is flexible. IM is probably what gets
modified first since it is very, very labor intensive.

Reporting overall is very weak. Lots of paper, too much
info, limited ability to chose subsets to print.

The GUI pieces mostly mimic the green screen function
in a prettier form.
