Krishan, Tell your management to purchase ValetMiner and PrepP for MAPICS - no need for programming! PrepP allows you to download any AS/400 report or query (spool file), and VM parses it into Excel, Access, or any number of other formats. If your company has the Client (Browser), it is easier yet - select the view that contains the data you want and copy to clipboard, then paste into Excel. Again - no programming! If you're going to write programs against MAPICS database, you will need EXTENSIVE work to understand where the data you need resides in those tables (files). Once you know WHERE the data is, getting it to the PC is easy! Finding the data is 99.9% of the work... PS I do not work for Momentum (makers of VM/PrepP) or for MAPICS. -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Sweety Honey [mailto:chewagama@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 2:36 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: Help Me Hi...
