We are going to use Arena for PDM, and there is a "Connector" to MAPICS
EPDM from Domain Systems for Agile. Arena uses the same technology as
Agile to output data, (90% of company is from Agile)so with little work it
would be a perfect fit. What is not perfect is the price of this little
"Connector". What makes Arena attractive is the relatively cheap price tag
compared to Agile. ( Quote from Agile 2 years ago was $475,000.00, Arena is
$43,000.00) This "Connector" is $40,00.00 !!!!!!!
Are you using Off-line EPDM or going straight to the Live data??? We are
thinking of taking the data as it comes from Arena and uploading to the
Offline files and then running Off-line load.

We are looking a SmartTeam, PDMWorks, and Arena to go with Solidworks, but
I think in
either case we will continue interfacing as we do with our current PDM
system. Which is
very simple, the PDM's API (as available in SmartTeam & Agile, even
PDMWorks) outputs
a text file of data and calls a FTP script which uploads the data to the
AS/400 and calls the
CL to run the RPG program that parses the data and plugs it in where
necessary.
It's very simple and far more efficient that say... BizTalk!
If it were to get complex, or need to be interactive we would still
develop it ourselves using ASNA's AVR tool.

Anyone out there using Agile or Arena Product Lifecycle Management and
interfacing with MAPICS/EPDM? If so, what are you doing for the
interface? Off the shelf , or Custom Solution?
Thanks,
