Oh, I agree that a LOT of what SOX requests us to do are good ideas.
Companies SHOULD have documented procedures on how they do their jobs.
However, that is ALSO a part of MRP II (now called ERP II), and it's a
shame that some companies have to be forced into this process.  But, there
are numerous examples (anyone else hear of the TREAD Act?).

What I object to are when the consultants take some of their ideas and take
them to extremes.   Or worse (and this is what has hammered my group), they
take processes that makes sense if you have a very large company (like our
owners, with a 100-person IT department), and attempt to apply the same
rules to an SMB (like us, with a 4-person IT department).

THAT'S what I have a problem with.
