Hey Mark, others...
Any thoughts about checking component availability to move and firm planned order, in order to level load, at or around CMLT, we would like to check component availability , but include current peg to demand (from MRP's planned orders) , and replenishment order as well (planned) for the components... I believe OBPM looks at just onhand - hand alloc (open MOs). This works well for release checking, but what about moving a planned order in a few days, or week, to level load, and firm it. We'd like to check component shortages out 10 - 12 weeks....?? We may be slightly inside CMLT.
Any advise would be welcome
thanks

The XA OBPM application provides this capability today.

We are have been trying to check shortages prior to releasing MO and are
    looking for suggestions.
We have tried reviewing availability on the Order Release/Review screen
    by
selecting sequence numbers then choosing option A. This works but it is
time consuming for our planners to review every item that is
    recommended.
We have tried running the "Check Item Availability Prior to Release"
    from
menu AMMM40 (Order/Sechedule Release) but that includes all items, not
just shortages and generates a 900+ page report.
Any suggestions on how we could stream line our shortage review prior to
releasing MO? We only want to cut MO's if we have enough material to
complete the order to simplify our sequencing process, which currently
    requires an availability check.
