Hi, Listers!
Question concerning use of Phantom and a need to use controlled floor
stock.
I inherited some assemblies where one of the components is a small "kit"
that is made up in the stockroom on an M.O., stocked, and then issued to
assembly like any other component (very non-valued added work, to be
sure). When I discovered this I asked if they had ever considered floor
stock...blank stare...Hmmm, says I.
These kit parts are ideal for controlled floor stock...but this kit is
called out in hundreds of BOMs and instead of doing all the nasty detail
data entry, I was wondering if making the kit a phantom and then
flagging the components as controlled floor stock would work.
Any suggestions or don't do that warnings?
Thanks!

Change the items to uncontrolled floorstock along with the kit. Determine
how to best plan for the min/max reorder point & quantity or MRP levels of
these now floorstock items
