Thanks for the information Robert; Great point; and I was pleasantly
surprised the first time I started doing uploads via System Link for mfg.
orders, that the jobs like the PC&C scheduler gets kicked off and anything
else required. XA doesn't really know (or care) it was entered via System
Link. It acts exactly like it was "keyed" in via OBPM. The beauty of it
is the learning curve on this stuff is very short.

We have started to call it "on-line load!" around the shop.

Anyway, I'll get off my soap-box. I admit I am a System Link junkie.

Not to sound like a salesman, but I would think that this type of
project could justify System-Link. Think of System-link as the universal
off-line maintenance interface for the objects you use in Power-Link.
Also, something that gets overlooked about system link is the ability to
submit host jobs and reports via xml. So as the host jobs are migrated
from Green screen to Power-link you can start using the System i job
scheduler and a simple clp to submit XA jobs without any operator
     intervention.

Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] Off-Line MO Load
I created a MO "Generator" once. In this case it allowed someone to
     enter
       a P/N, explode a B/M and then create "in-mass" the selected orders
     (from a
"flattened" B/M). I leveraged the ORDATA files and created a batch
     this
way (they posted it via normal methods as a batch). In this case they
     were
able to create hundreds of orders in a relatively short time. It
     worked
well. It did not take a long time to design.

I subsquently created a System Link version (much much better) but
     the
result was same. (Note projects like this make a great justification
     for
System Link. It is SO MUCH easier and very release transparent. In
     this
case you simply use the LPI method of interfacing - No web skills
       required)

E-mail me and I can share w/ you the concepts and some of the
     techniques
for both methods. There was a few gotcha's in creating the ORDATA*
members that were required if I remember. I need a day to dig out
     the
code but e-mail me and I can share more details if this sounds like
     what
       you want.

         Subject: [MAPICS-L] Off-Line MO Load
We have a request from manufacturing to create a process in where a
factory worker scans a kanban card and the result is an MO being
     created
in MAPICS (sorry Infor XA). We are using XA R7.7 with PowerLink
     but
don't have SystemLink. When the MO is created we still need all of
     the
associated MO documents printed and all of the files updated just
     as if
the MO was manually created. Has anyone created a process like
     this or
is there an existing MAPICS function that would accomplish this
     task?
The generation and printing of the MO needs to be seamless to the
     users
they simply scan the card and the paper prints, no other human
         interaction.
Thanks for your ideas and help
         Doug
