Kevin,
Thanks for feedback I do appreciate it.
What about custom views, subsets, sorts that have been setup in
PowerLink are they available to NetLink users?
Other than attachments are their any PowerLink features/objects that are
not available in NetLink?
Thanks again,
Doug

   Hey Doug
Here are some of my experiences. I have found generally Netlink
performance to be okay. You have the option of running Net Link also
on a
stand-alone auxilliary which can help. You can do maintenance on
orders
and pretty much anything. If you have Enterprise Integrator all your
extensions work. I have found Net Link to be pretty darn stable as
well.
We had a planner at one place i worked that used Net Link for much of
his
job in the morning (would release his orders remotely before driving
in).

The downfall of Net Link in my opinion is the screens and font sizes.
You
can't do a nice compound card for example. Now, having said that,
I've
seen samples of Net Link running in Rel 7.8 and it is MUCH MUCH
BETTER. It is a good reason to go to Rel 7.8 I think (if you use a
lot
of Net Link). I think the maximize the use of the screen better
(smaller
header). I have heard you can customize the "skins" a bit too.

You can't in Net Link work well with attachments (but we have had
some
customers get it to work "okay"). Also, you can't export and
cut/paste,
at least not out of Rel 7.7 or earlier.

If you have dual users (Net Link and Power Link), i would create "net
link" friendly cards and card files that are used when accessing
remotely.

Some thoughts anyway. I know some of our customers that read this
discussion thread. Maybe they can comment on real-world success (and
failures) on Net Link. I am really looking forward to leveraging it
more
   in Rel 7.8.

   Kevin

     Subject: [MAPICS-L] NetLink
We are running Infor XAR7 and use PowerLink. We have several
remote
sites with decent WAN lines back to our home site. When users at
these
remote locations use PowerLink it works but is very slow. I know
this
isn't the preferred access method so we are considering NetLink.
I'd
like to get some real world experience feedback on NetLink.
     Is performance really better?
What are the limitations in NetLink?
Can you enter CO, PO, and MO?
                Can items be maintained?
                Are user extension objects useable?
If performance is really better than PowerLink why wouldn't it be
used
at the local site as well as remote sites?
     Etc
     Thanks for your feedback.
     Doug
