Good information here Joe. Our experience has been as well the issues
around the migration tool, not necessarily the Rel 7.8 applications
themselves, and Link Manager II issues. We are looking forward to using
the new single level PCM as this has been the biggest complaint.
For those of you with lets of Enterprise Integrator enhancements, a couple
   things to test extensively.
Secondary Objects, especially over CSM. This area is EXTREMELY BUGGY in
initial release of Rel 7.8 but Infor has been doing work here to
stabalize. Just be sure to test this.
For the most part the "release transparency" concept has been preserved.
This was much cleaner than when we took clients say from Rel 6 old
Integrator/Power Link to Rel 7.6 or Rel 7.7. So this was refreshing. We
have noticed little if any "customization features" lost (Work Benches
didn't disappear this time!) Note when you Export/Import objects and
custom definitions for example, it all came across from Rel 7.7 to Rel 7.8
environments. However you need to sometimes verify things like
Maintenance Classes, system assigned keys, etc. Also the transaction
broker/user exits still don't activate themselves and have to still be
confirmed. (Not a huge deal but when you consider we may have 200+ custom
objects it's a bit time consuming!) There were some issues w/ some of our
System LInk stuff but it was primarily around I think Link Manager and the
server, not necessarily the XML/Code itself.
More of our customers are now taking a serious look at this, since the
migration path is improving. Infor has been very responsive to issues and
problems for most of our customers. So while we find some bugs, they have
been doing a good job turning around the fixes.
   My initial experiences anyway...

We have built a 7.8 test environment from our current level 7.7. Just
beginning to test but so far here is what we have found:
The migration involved applying the 079000 PCM and the 079955 PCM. We
had some initial problems with these but finally got them applied.
Mainly making sure requisite PTFs were applied and a couple of issues we
found. It took several attempts on weekends to get the issues resolved.
Be sure to do this in a test environment first. A single PCM is now
available to go to the 079955 level.
The client install had a few issues starting with a bad qbatch routing
entry which caused the global environment to fail to start, but that was
resolved quickly with Infor help. They also helped make sure the client
startup tasks went ok and there were a few issues but we did get the
client installed as well as the new link manager. Our test PCs now have
both the 7.7 and 7.8 clients installed along with link manager and so
far these seem to be stable and work well. Our custom objects appear to
work fine in the new client. We are at the latest SP level on the
     client.
Have not tested much of the new client functionality in COM and other
     areas much yet.
As far as native RPG code, we have found very few changes that affect
our custom code. Most of the legacy code appears to be unchanged.
There are quite a few new files, logical and indexes and there is a PTF
for 79955 which lists these and the changes.

              Hello everyone!
I am interested in knowing if anyone has gone to Release 7.8
and if you have where you a new install or did you migrate from XA6 or
     7?
Did you have custom code or did you have modifications to XA?
What problems did you have if any at 7.8?
              Thank you for your input.
