Well I finally got it ....

To cancel the command after prompting, I found my QIBM_QCA_RTV_COMMAND exit
program can simply send the CPF0002 *ESCAPE up the call stack to ONE LEVEL
HIGHER than my old validity checker method's target.   (Sound of head
slapping ...)
