I've got an application storing documents in IFS stream files. As more and
more 
documents are stored, and the IFS directory structure becomes more
complex, the 
response time is becoming quite slow, and the slowing seems to
be much greater 
than anybody here has had any reason to expect.

Does
anybody here have any idea what's going on, and how to correct
it?
