Given enough development time, and a willingness to put up with slow response time, it would be possible to create an MI emulator in GW-BASIC. Or any other language. You'd probably have more trouble getting *PGM objects back and forth between your AS/400 and your DOS or WINDOZE or LINUX machine than you'd have writing something that would process at least a source-level MI instruction stream. Dunno whether it would be worth doing, though. There are an awful lot of old CISC/IMPI AS/400s sitting around, not doing anything in particular, and you could probably get, say, a D02 with V2R3 (which is what our MI development box is) real cheap. -- JHHL
