I telecommute 1 day a week and it's the most productive day I have! When I
proved that to management and ask for an additional day or an occasional extra
day it's always no way! When I was a developer at Extol I had 2 days
telecommuting and it worked out great.

I have a close friend that lives down the street from me here in the PA
Poconos. He works for a company in Ohio and visits the office every 6 weeks or
so. They ran a T1 line to his house and pay his expenses for the office visit.

Just a few examples of how it can work.

Perhaps the reason companies don't expand programs like this is that there are
some people that just can't work from home. They're distracted or tempted by
the opportunity to get personal work done. Companies also seem to have a
problem with setting up a policy that handle the two types of workers. But
most of all, there are probably many more tax breaks for hiring offshore than
an American.

I know I'm ready for more online work.
