http - not displaying images

I am using the IC/400 web server, storing my web files (HTML & GIF) in
an IFS directory.  My problem is that while the HTML text appears
correctly when connecting to my web page, the GIF images are not
displayed (when using Netscape).  When using Internet Explorer, I get an
image, but it is a corrupted version.  

I remember seeing a thread about this on the list a few weeks ago, but
don't recall ever seeing a resolution.   Anyone know of a resolution?
