If the journal is clean, then going to 40 should not give you any problems. If there are entries, you need to investigate and resolve. To go back to 30 from 40, you need to do an IPL. So you don't want to find out at 10:00am that 40 will not work, and you have to do a 45 minute IPL (or how ever long your machine may take). Steve is our security guru on the list, and can probably give you better info, but I hope that can at least serve as a start.
