OS400/SSP/AS36 files visibility/xfer via ILAN?

My customer has an AS36 with both OS/400 and SSP sides connected via an
"ILAN" internally.

How can he make an AS400 file running under OS400 visible to to SSP?

Does the file have to be transferred via the ILAN to the S36 side and vice
versa? 

or 

Is there a QS36F library with flat files for the S36 side?

Or what?
