One example of somethig an IPL does: If you are replacing a lot of objects (compiling with Replace exiting object? *Yes), and you find your QRPLOBJ library is growing, you can clear it by IPL'ing. Otherwise, you can manually clear it between IPL's. If anyone is using the old version of the replaced object, they might encounter errors, but as you probably shouldn't be replacing objects in use, that shouldn't be a big deal.
