Carl, We have setup our AS/400 (Model 310 running V3R2) as a POP3 server and it is working quite well with either Eudora or the MS Exchange client that is included with WIN95. I have no experience with the MS Exchange server so I can't compare performance. It is interesting that with the MS Exchange Client, even a twinax connected PC running CAWIN95 can send and receive Internet Email. ---------- From: mcsnet!midrange.com!midrange-l-owner@Mcs.Net on behalf of Carl Galgano Sent: Friday, May 23, 1997 8:28 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: POP3 seerver on an AS400 A few months back I read an article about using the POP3 server built into V3R2/V3R7. It all looked pretty good, "free" email using the AS400 as the server and the WIN95 mail client or Eudora as the client. Seems like this would be a very inexpensive solution. Has anyone any experience doing email this way? What are the performance issues, and how does it stack up to solution based on MS Exchange server?? TIA Carl Carl J.
