 Not really.  I'm referring to doing the basic conversion that OS/400
provides.  The idea here is to leverage the investment you are making into
making the DB more robust, easier to maintain and use in the future.  Many
applications use dates as a pivotal part of the proceessing logic.  The
conversion to ILE is really a simple conversion to RPG IV.

 Yep!   :-(  Remember that IBM will (almost definitely) improve the
performance on the OS and the newer hardware should also overcome additional
hits.  With a few exceptions, system design is a lot more important than a
few seconds shaved off a batch run.
