HTML as THE way to >> develop web apps...but that pretty much exhausts >> my knowledege. Any thoughts/pointers? (No pointers in Java ;-) For a quick and easy(?) way to web enable AS/400 apps, you could use IBM's 5250/WebGate or I/Net Webulator/400 (I think there's another couple of companies that do a similar product). These products use a similar concept of taking the 5250 data stream (via virtual terminals) and creating the corresponding HTML for the browser (I/Net have a demo on their web site http://www.inetmi.com/) For Java enabling your apps, you'll have to hit code... there are a grand total of one (1) Java ports to the AS/400 - IBM's. This can be downloaded as a beta from the IBM AS/400 website (http://www.as400.ibm.com/service/service.htm#down) There are a number of win95/nt front ends for doing the Java development, it's really a case of finding one that fits the way you like to work. Some sites to look at; Advanced BusinessLink - AS/400 Web Server & Java 5250 Client. [ http://www.businesslink.com] Net.Data for OS/400 gives dynamic HTML [http://www.as400.ibm.com/netdata] Net.Data programming guide [ http://www.software.ibm.com/data/net.data/docs/] Wall Data - ARPEGGIO Live! converts to HTML. [http: //www.walldata.com/ARPEGGIO/arpeg.html] Just so that I don't get/start a huge posting flame about advertising, I *do not*, I repeat **do not** work or have any financial involvement in any of the companies listed above........ ;-) Hope this helps....
