>> My problem is as follows :
I have a copy book in RPG III . Now I want to use the same copy
book in RPG II ( i.e,System 36 Environment ). But when I compile my RPG
II code with the /COPY (RPG III copy book converted to suite RPG II) it
gives me errors. My doubt is whether we can use copybooks in C spec of
RPG II. <<
Yes, I know for a fact that you can do that. It's been a long time since
I've looked at this, but I converted some RPG 2 apps to RPG 3 once. I
remember there were some changes required to the copybooks.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the nature of the problems. There's a
different compile command. On the AS/400 it's something like CRTS36AUTOC
and CRTRPGPGM. On the S/36 it was AUTOC???. The default source member
attribute is different too, and The U-Spec is required in one
environment but optional in the other. I don't remember which. Hopefully
someone else will jump in here and give you something a little less
hazy. If you use copybooks in RPG (either 3 or 4), they are copied
exactly as written. If you use them in auto report programs, you can do
a lot more tricks with them.
