Charlie, I like getting information from vendors, and I think it's totally appropriate for a vendor to notify a questioner when they have a soliution to a specific problem. In the old Build vs Buy question, Buy is almost always the better way to go and vendors are best positioned to tell us when something we need already exists. Besides, in this industry vendors are one of the best forms of education available to us. But I also (strongly) agree with Dave M. that if someone gains financial interest through a product, they need to say so. Not only is that part of the list rules, it's just good netiquette.
