Concatenate several fields into one new field in the DS array, then sort by the new field. I also use a variable field called sort in work files. Program 1 prompts for the selection and sorting criteria. Program 2 builds a keyed work file. Program 3 prints it. The key to the work file is a field called SORT. I also implemented a data warehouse application using this technique. I keep 50 different combinations of "sorts" and "totals" in 1 file, with one Inquiry program. This gives instantaneous results. The application is Merchandise totals. You can get totals by company, department, class, item, sku, etc. This lets you start at the top and drill down. That is, you can see company totals, then see departments in company, or items within class, or departments within item.
