Therfore if you assign a private IP to the AS/400, say 172.18.100.1 and add a route to the 172.18.100.0 network in your PC via the assigned (PC) addapter address, as well as a route in the AS/400 to the PC's address via the 172.18.100.1 address you should be in business. My guess is that you will all ready have a route in the PC that indicates the Default route is the Cable Modems (Routers) address, just leave it alone. Win/95 use the "route add ......" command. But if you do not mind, what cable provider is using a non-standard address with who's modem product ?? Hey Mark B ? what is the permissable Class assignments in the AS/400 ??
