My earlier message seemed to have lost part of the text, so I'm resending it in it's entirety. The client that I'm at is considering this tool for doing their Y2K work. They use BPCS at several sites and I would assume this tool would be very effective for that since they are both SSA products. A couple of sites are running a much older package that is not BPCS. It was primarily written using RPG2 and early RPG3. There is still programs that contain internal file specs (even some with internally defined display files). The design is primarily "batch transaction" with data propagated from file to file during the batch update/reporting processes. Some of these "transition" files are flat files (no external field definitions). It also uses many FMTDTA steps to sort/select data for reports. It also uses data areas to store parameters from the interactive prompt program to the batch processes. There are also approximately 125 programs that have been generated using the ProGen case tool. It is quite common that a date field contains special values (i.e.. 999999 means that the record is soft-deleted). New software has been suggested, but that does not appear to be an option right now. Has anyone heard of the SSA Millennium software (this may be a product description and not a product name)? Will the tool be effective for the non-BPCS systems? Can it handle all of the programs, dataareas, etc.? Any insights here will be greatly appreciated.
