I stumbled on a comparison of operating systems on Computerworlds web site. It compares OS's in two classes a follows. What follows are examples of multipurpose operating systems: Digital OpenVMS Version 6.2 Microsoft Windows NT Server Version 3.51 IBM's AIX Version 4.1 SunSoft's Solaris Version 2.4 HP HP-UX Version 10.0 IBM OS/400 Version 3 Release 1 Network Operating Systems The following are examples of network operating systems: Novell NetWare V3.12 Novell NetWare V4.1 Banyan VINES Below a chart showing only NT, AIX and OpenVMS to have 'strong' scaleability I found this text... "..Microsoft's NT Server Version 3.51, IBM's AIX/6000 Version 4.1, and Digital's OpenVMS Version 6.2 are all strong in this category. Depending on the exact configuration of the server, these operating systems can easily support the requirements of thousands of clients. NetWare Version 4.1, SCO OpenServer, Solaris Version 2.4, and OS/400 Version 3 Release 1 are all adequate in this category. " NT Scaleable? What a joke. You can find the entire load of crap at http://www.openvms.digital.com/openvms/whitepapers/nosc/nosc.html Jim Blizard jimb@otterspace.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
