Paul,

I assume this is being done with the co-operation of the user concerned
otherwise this looks suspiciously like a hack. You should get the user
to set the password back for you because, of course, there is no way you
could ever know their password, is there? :-)

Don't even think about trying to change audit values like last password
change date. Just change the password expiry interval on the user's
profile so that the password will expire on it's appointed date, i.e.
normal interval minus number of days elapsed since previous change.
After the password has been changed set it back to *SYSVAL, or whatever
the usual setting is for this user. But don't try to hide the fact of
the password change from the user.
