Other option if you are stuck:
1. I believe someone on this list has written or is writing/testing
some date routines that are free<?>.
2.There are commercial standard date routine packages
available which you can call to or imbed in your programs
[depending]. For example the one I am thinking of does more
then standard date functions & provides some Y2K PF & LF file
building for non compliant date formats to new compliant date
formats with auto rebuild plus blah blah....
Nonetheless you get durations are able to convert to/ from
any format to another[dual formats] get the day of week et al.
FWIW It can even serve as a part of your bridge function logic.
Likely there are other variations in functionality/ choice
