Currently, whenever something needs to print, Netsoft is used to route the AS/400 output to the printer. This seems like an extra step to me, can't something like a Jet Direct card attached to the network be used to handle the output directly from the AS/400? Would autoconfig pick up the Jet Direct? Specifically, I need to send output to an HP 2930 printer, which looks like it handles ASCII codes. What is the best way to accomplish this? Is there a particular manual that addresses networks and printing?
