only my 0.0001 cents but ?how many AS/400 REAL bussiness apllications are running in real word developed with VA Cobol? (also this question for Java) i think is not the same Cobol that automatic C + Cobol created with VA (a GUI environment). Anybody remembering all these days where "the best" development tool was SmallTolk? and SAA Cicle / Repository? and C++ in 400? (where is real bussiness app runing in C++ in 400) Note: i -as you?- believe that a real app is these with 100+ programs, not fewer PF/LF files, a lot of records and a lot of people working together.... If any are thinking in "pretty nice GUI" applications there is other point of view... 8-). ---------- > From: Chris Rehm <Mr.AS400@ibm.net> > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: Re: An odd thing > Date: 12 de diciembre de 1997 14:25 > > ** Reply to note from Jon Paris <paris@ca.ibm.com> Thu, 11 Dec 1997 19:00:50 -0500 > > > People - we're talking about a GENERATOR - _Nobobody_ is going to be writing > > any COBOL!!!! > > Well, Jon, I know that these guys are going to be using the VisualAge > Generator, but the way I heard about it was that they contacted a consulting > business partner I had been working for and asked about buying a Cobol > compiler for the AS/400. > > I don't have any idea as to whether or not they intend to redevelop as a > host based app with PC clients or whether they intend to use fat clients to > a data server.
