Richard: If you use FTP to transfer the data then the trailing blanks should be truncated. There was a thread not to long ago that was the opposite of your problem. The question went something like how do I always get all records in a file to have a fixed length in FTP. The answer was to include a character at the end of the record. Also, you can also do this by using the CPYTOPCD command. There is a parameter for *TEXT/*NOTEXT. I don't remember which makes the PC file have variable length records, but a quick test should verify the correct parm. The CPYTOPCD command will take the source PF member and create a PC document in a shared folder. Then use the shared folder support in CA to get the document to the PC. HTH.
