What you can do is to do a shorter wait, and re-issue the ENDSBS command. If the subsystem has ended, you should get a CPF1054 escape, and you now know it's ok to proceed. An example of such coding can be found by retrieving the CL for QMNSAVE, but be cautious, this is an extremely complicated CL program. If memory serves me correctly, this program does an ENDSBS *IMMED, and then monitors for a CPF1035. In this case, the reverse logic is used. When it fails to get the CPF1035, it now knows that the system has achieved a restricted state, and then it's OK to proceed. Alternatively, there are APIs that do the equivalent of WRKACTJOB, but these are not for the light of heart. There is a TAATOOL called CVTWRKSBS. If memory serves me correctly, this tool is an old tool and was supplied in the free versions of TAA which used to be found in QUSRTOOL. If, I'm wrong, it is certainly in the versions which we sell today.
