My apologies. I forget that not everyone has been playing in this (internet)
world since college. RFCs are Request for Comments, the internet way to
develop new technologies. There are RFCs for just about everything (SMTP,
POP3, IP, TCP, RIP, FTP, PPP, SLIP, if its got an acronym it has an RFC).
STDs are Standards or basically RFCs that haven't change in a looooong time
and are now considered standard.
