I THINK the connection from 5494 to AS/400 must be an SNA/APPC type
connection, not TCP/IP.
So both sites could be running Ethernet but your router would need to be
able to route SNA traffic.

        TCP/IP connections between sites. I am having a look around the
IBM site 
        and can see it can act as a bridge within a frame connection,
what about a 
        non frame network. With two sites running Ethernet can I still
