One solution would be as follows:
1. create a externally described data structure based on the file being
triggered. Obviously FileName would be the name of your file being triggered:
DFileName e ds extname(FileName)
2. update the data structure with the following statements using the IBM
supplied
trigger buffer data stucture in QSYSINC:
Eval FileName = %subst(qdbtb:qdbnro + 1)
3.update the data structure FileName:
Eval RcdSts = 'SC04'
4. update the trigger buffer with the data structure FileName:
%subst(qdbtb:qdbnro+1:qdbnrl) = FileName
We use this alot so I know it works.
