Well, it's a long shot, but if this is a twinax connected PC do you have
PTF SF43692 applied ?
Did you just install cum package C8048320 ?  This PTF isn't on it.

This is from the SF98320 info PTF letter:

                                                                     
 22. 98/02/04 PROBLEM: (SA67904) Licensed Program = 5763SS1          
                       Damage Where Recovery is an IPL, Re-Install,  
                       Restore                                       
                       Usability of a Product's MAJOR Function       
              USERS AFFECTED: All OS/400 users with Twinax attached  
                              PC's.                                  
              RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTF SF43692.
