Roy,

I can't answer all your questions, but:

1)      They person selling you this claims that the software is
included.  Check this -  I believe you must purchase your software
license from IBM - it doesn't transfer with a used machine.
2)      Yes the conversion is basically a no brainer using the Migration
Data Link - but you do need to get the software to load on your old S/36
(#TNLIB) to support it.  And your old machine must be at SSP 5.0 or
higher.
3)      I've not heap of SSP release 7.2   I thought the 236 came with
7.1 and the 436 with 7.5
                I THINK the 7.5 release is the only one with the (few)
Y2K enablers, but I could be wrong.
4)      I'm sure there are vendors out there with Y2K tools for a S/36
(probably wouldn't make any difference to them what model S/36 you had.
5)      I haven't seen anything to say IBM has withdrawn either hardware
(236) or software (SSP 7.1)  support.

        forward and gave good results?  is SSP 7.2 year 2000 ready? Are
there date
        field conversion apps out that will run on the 236 for our
sys/36 apps?  Is
        the 236 still being supported by IBM?
