Doc,

First, threads are not "native" on V3R6/V3R7 but are sort of
kludged in.

Using them requires the CPA Toolkit. On V3R7, this is "OS/400 -
Common Programming APIs Toolkit" and is availible no-charge from
IBM. And any machine that wants to run whatever you write will
also have to have this.

If you need to target below V4R2 and this is something you sell,
I would recommend avoiding the CPA toolkit. Just one more
Support Headache.

If you are developing something for your internal use, then that
is different and you might want to use the tool kit.

Subject: AS/400 Threads

Hey all...

I've done a little research in the V3R6/V3R7 manuals on threads
and thread
management. It all _seems_ fairly straightforward, but as we
all know...

Anyway, I'm curious-- has anyone used these suckers? How good
are they
compared to Windows or Unix implementations? Are they worth the
trouble?

Thanks
